Allogeneic Stem Cell Transplantation
Allogeneic Stem Cell Transplantation is a curative treatment option for leukemias, myelodysplastic syndrome and other bone marrow failure syndromes. It relies on the donation of hematopoietic stem cells from a suitable (HLA “matched”) related or unrelated donor. It comes with multiple side effects and complications as the transplant procedure requires chemotherapy preparative regimens. Furthermore, due to transplantation of a foreign immune system a potential complication is called “graft versus host disease” that can cause severe dysfunction of the gut, liver, skin and other organs. Patients need to be monitored inpatient for several weeks post transplantation and then long term in an outpatient setting. However, it has been shown in ground-breaking studies that shortening the observation time in the hospital post transplantation is beneficial to the patient regarding survival and quality of life. However, “transplant at home” is logistically very challenging due to the lack of appropriate monitoring systems and therefore currently very staff intensive.
CuretraxAllo
askdjaslkjdlk CuretraxAllo provides treatment-specific support to care teams and patients who have undergone allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. It is well known that there are unique challenges for patients and Care Teams after allogeneic stem cell transplantation HSCT. Some prominent challenges include the development of graft-versus-host disease (GvHD), susceptibility to infections and the potential for rapid changes in patient health and wellbeing.
To address these challenges, CuretraxAllo provides a platform for Care Teams to securely monitor the health and well-being of their patients 24/7 in real-time.
With CuretraxAllo, we aim to reduce the lengthy hospital stay of patients after allogeneic stem cell transplantation, ultimately allowing patients to recover in their more comfortable home environment while freeing much-needed hospital beds and other hospital resources.
Patient vitals and activity levels such as heart rate, blood oxygen levels and steps are recorded 24/7 through a suitable Garmin wearable. These results are delivered securely in real-time to the supervising Care Team.
Some health metrics can fluctuate rapidly and are unable to be captured by wearable devices. These metrics, such as blood pressure or body weight, can be reported to Care Teams multiple times during the day through our patient mobile phone application.
CuretraxAllo will collect large amounts of patient health data over time. To facilitate easy interpretation and analysis, Care Teams can view neatly formatted health data in their dashboard with the option to view this data over various timeframes.
Keeping track of all the required medications and dosages can be difficult for patients after allogeneic stem cell transplantation as they often face a very long daily medication list. Furthermore, often doses need to be adjusted according to blood levels and the patient has to be notified. To address this and increase patient compliance, CuretraxAllo allows Care Teams to upload patient medication requirements and edit them in real-time and automatically notify the patient about the changes made.
The standardized FACT-BMT score and Chronic GvHD Self Assessment score are important for assessing patient well-being after allogeneic stem cell transplantation. These questionnaires can be completed by patients through our app with results delivered directly to their Care Team.
Through our mobile phone application, patients can complete a daily symptom report which provides their Care Team with treatment-specific information about changes in patient health and well-being, such as the development of new symptoms or skin rashes.
The development of GvHD is a major concern for all Care Teams after allogeneic stem cell transplantation. Thus, if patients develop a skin rash while in the out-patient setting, they can immediately upload a picture to their Care Team with information on the bodily location of the rash using the mobile phone application.
When a patient’s vitals or report responses indicate deviations from normality, the CuretraxAllo platform will send alerts to Care Teams through their dashboard and indicate which metrics should be further investigated.
CuretraxAllo speaks English, French, German and Spanish for now. We are working on including more languages.
